Here's what I'm doing with the Finance Influence Accerlerator:
The outcome is simple.
Identify where your finance team is losing influence - and turn them into a trusted voice in business decisions, not just the team that reports them.
I'm working with a small number of CFOs who know their team should be influencing more - but aren't consistently doing so.
We'll do it with a live workshop. A team diagnostic using the Decision-Influence Model and get clear visibility on where influence is breaking down. Facilitated discussion to align on what great influence actually looks like and a prioritised action plan - not a laundry list of how to improve influence. Plus the tools, language, and frameworks to influence decisions in your organisation earlier.
The model is simple:
Phase 1: Understanding the gap.
We start by aligning what finance influence actually looks like in your organisation.
Through a facilitated discussion, we unpack how decisions are really made, where finance is currently involved and where it isn't.
Then we map your team against my Decision-Influence Model - identifying where influence is being lost (whether that is timing, access, relationships, or positioning).
This gives you a clear, shared view of where you are today - and why.
Phase 2: is about prioritising what to fix first.
Once the gaps are clear, we focus on what will actually move the needle.
We facilitate a structured discussion to align on what good influence looks like in your organisation and build a prioritised action plan (not a laundry list) focused on the few changes that will have the biggest impact in your Finance team's influence.
This is where most finance teams realise:
Fixing influence isn't about better reports or knowing what to say - it's about changing when and how Finance shows up.
Half-Day, in person workshop (virtual option available).
I come on-site and work directly with your CFO and finance team to diagnose where Finance influence is breaking down, align on what good looks like, and build a prioritised action plan.
Your team will leave with a clear shared view of what needs to change - and a practical plan to start changing it immediately.
Each participant receives a workbook along with a document or record of the agreed actions - both at an individual and team level.
I run a limited number of these each quarter. If you are considering this for your team, the conversation starts here.
Thats the QuickFactsTM
It's a small group, so I'm looking for the right fit here.
So if you...
1. Are or have a CFO who knows that the finance team is capable of more - but isn't consistently influencing decisions early enough
2. Have a finance team that's producing good work - but not always shaping organisational outcomes
3. Want your team to be brought into conversations earlier - not after the decision has already been made
4. Are open to challenging how Finance currently shows up in their business
5. And you won't expect this to be 'just another training session' that everyone forgets a week later.
Then if that sounds like you and you'd like to run a Finance Influence Accelerator:
Step 2. We'll talk through your team, where you think the gaps are, and whether the Finance Influence Accelerator is the right fit.
Step 3. If it is, we will lock in the date and get your team set up for the workshop.
Matthew
P.S. Most finance teams don't have a capability problem - they have an influencing problem.
By the time finance is in the room, the decision is often made.
The workshop will show you exactly where that's happening in your business.
What most CFOs decide next is whether fixing it is something they want to do once and embed properly across the team or keep applying tactical training.
